Aeronomy satellite projects and FMI

Finnish Meteorological Institute participates into several satellite projects Odin, Envisat, EOS-Aura and COALA. FMI team has participated instrument development, data processing system planning and mission planning work. The scientific use of the measured data is also one of our main objectives.

Envisat launch 01.03.2002 was successfull

Envisat satellite with GOMOS instrument was launched on Friday, 1st of March, 2002, 03.08 finnish time (01.08 UTC) from French Guyana with Ariane 5 rocket..

Odin launch 20.02.2001 was successfull

Odin satellite has been launched on Tuesday, 20th of February 2001, 10.48 finnish time. Launch happened from Svobodny's cosmodrome at southern Siberia and the rocket used was the former long range missile START-1. Flight center has been made the first contacts with the satellite.
