Aviation and Military Weather Service, Rovaniemi, Northern Finland
Our office is located at Rovaniemi airport just a couple of hundred meters south from the Arctic circle.
You'll find us at the 3 stairs flat to the right of the passenger terminal.
The Weather Forecaster is on duty all day long on the third floor. The entrance door is open on weekdays til afternoon. You are welcome also at other times, just please ring the door bell. We'll be here.
What we do
We produce aviation weather service for Northern and also most of Eastern Finland.
The information is in the form of TAF and General Aviation Forecasts, which are updated several times every day. Significant weather charts are also made for the area of Rovaniemi Flight Informaton Region, which consists of provinces of Oulu and Lapland.
We produce also weather information for the military, specially the Finnish Air Force.
We give weather information for the turist resorts and fells in Northern Finland. Some weather forecasts for viewing the Northern Lights come from us.
During winter time we give avalanche warnings for the fells.
In winter time we serve car testing groups here in Lapland.
